หน่วยตรวจสอบคุณภาพน้ำ เป็นหน่วยงานในสังกัดสาขาวิชาชีวเคมี คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่นโดยมีหน้าทีให้บริการตรวจวิเคราะห์คุณภาพน้ำ ได้แก่ น้ำดื่ม น้ำประปา น้ำที่ใช้ผลิตอาหารให้ผู้ป่วยในโรงพยาบาล น้ำในหม้อต้มไอน้ำที่ใช้อบฆ่าเชื้อเครื่องมือแพทย์และงานซักฟอก รวมไปถึงน้ำเสียจากบ่อบำบัดของคณะแพทศาสตร์เพื่อให้ได้คุณภาพน้ำที่ดีและไม่ก่อมลพิษก่อนถูกปล่อยสู่แหล่งธรรมชาติ  นอกจากนี้หน่วยตรวจสอบคุณภาพน้ำยังเป็นหน่วยงานที่สนับสนุนงานด้านวิจัยและการเรียนการสอนในห้องปฏิบัติการ โดยการผลิตน้ำกลั่นและน้ำปราศจากไอออนที่ได้คุณภาพและเพียงพอสำหรับความต้องการของหน่วยงานต่างๆ

ด้านการบริการอื่นๆ หน่วยตรวจสอบคุณภาพน้ำยังรับบริการตรวจวิเคราะห์คุณภาพน้ำจากหน่วยงานเอกชนภายนอกโดยเฉพาะ น้ำดื่มและน้ำประปาในโรงงาน เพื่อใช้ขอต่ออายุใบอนุญาตประกอบการโรงงานผลิตน้ำดื่มจากสำนักงานสาธารณสุขจังหวัด 

หน้าที่สำคัญของหน่วยตรวจสอบคุณภาพน้ำ สาขาวิชาชีวเคมี คือการให้บริการและสนับสนุนคณะแพทยศาสตร์อย่างสุดกำลังความสามารถเพื่อให้งานด้านการวิจัยและการเรียนการสอนรวมไปถึงด้านบริการอื่นๆ ขับเคลื่อนไปอย่างมีประสิทธภาพและได้มาตรฐานสากลต่อไป

The Water Analysis Unit is an operational unit under the Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University. Its primary responsibility is to provide analytical services for water quality assessment, including drinking water, tap water, and water used in food preparation for hospital patients. The unit also analyzes water used in steam boilers for sterilizing medical instruments and for laundry services, as well as wastewater from the Faculty of Medicine’s treatment system to ensure that discharged water meets quality standards and does not cause environmental pollution.

In addition, the Water Analysis Unit supports research activities and laboratory-based teaching by producing high-quality distilled water and deionized water, ensuring sufficient supply for various departmental needs.

The unit also offers water quality testing services to external private organizations, particularly drinking water and tap water from factories, for the purpose of renewing operational licenses for drinking water production as required by the Provincial Public Health Office.

The core mission of the Water Analysis Unit, Department of Biochemistry, is to provide dedicated services and support to the Faculty of Medicine, enabling research, teaching, and related services to operate efficiently and in accordance with international standards.
